Spotify just announced Spotify AI DJ, its AI assistant that will take your music personalization to new level. Spotify defines it as “a personalized AI guide that understands your music preferences so well, it can curate the perfect playlist for you.” And after testing it, we need to say we are impressed.
Currently available to premium (paid) customers in US and Canada, DJ is a feature that offers a handpicked lineup of songs along with commentary about the tracks and artists, all delivered in a stunningly realistic voice.
Spotify’s personalization technology has always been a fan favorite, with playlists like Discover Weekly and Wrapped delivering the right music for the perfect moment in time. But DJ takes personalization to a whole new level.
The feature is currently in beta and offers a curated lineup of music with commentary about the tracks and artists, all delivered in a realistic voice. But what really sets it apart is the AI-powered personalization that gets better the more you use it. DJ constantly learns from your listening habits and refreshes the lineup based on your feedback.
What’s even more impressive is the technology behind the feature. Backed up by Open AI’s technology, Spotify’s generative AI model, combined with the expertise of their music editors, delivers insightful facts about the music, artists, or genres you’re listening to. And the voice model for DJ was provided by Xavier “X” Jernigan, Spotify’s own Head of Cultural Partnerships, who previously served as one of the hosts on Spotify’s first personalized morning show, The Get Up.
How can you use Spotify AI DJ
To access the Spotify AI DJ, simply head to the Music Feed on the Home screen of the Spotify app and tap Play on the DJ card. And if the current playlist doesn’t match your mood, just hit the DJ button at the bottom right of the screen to switch it up.
We think DJ will be a game-changer for music lovers who want a more personalized listening experience. It’s clear that Spotify does not want to be left behind in this AI craze, and looking they are looking for new ways to improve their users’ listening experiences. We’re excited to see what they have in store for the future!
