Text-to-Video generative AI apps like Pixverse are on the rise and our social timelines are now filled with high-quality videos that seem to be created by an experienced artist. The impressive thing is that all those AI videos are generated by by normal folks such as you and us, and with only using a few lines of text!
In this article, we’re going to look at a relatively new one in the playground, PixVerse.AI
Pixverse is a nifty little app that you can use both from their web app and their Discord server, for free (as of Jan 2024). While the web app is more accessible and fairly simple to use, their Discord server would be more flexible, if you are familiar with the interface.
How to create AI videos from text using Pixverse.AI?
The simplest way to generate videos is using Pixverse’s web app at app.pixverse.ai. You can login with your Google account or your Discord credentials. Upon signing up, you’ll be greeted with a Midjourney-like showcase homepage where you can see some impressive examples of videos generated by community.
Then click on the create button on the top-right side to make magic!
In the “create” page, producing your video is as easy as writing a prompt and clicking the Create button. there are also options to change the seed (randomize the output) and adjust the strength of motion, and you can play with them to fine-tune your video. As of this writing, Pixverse’s servers were running at full capacity so it might take a few minutes to create your video.
Currently, the videos are 4 seconds long but the Pixverse Team is working hard to increase the duration, so some improvements should be on the way.
Using Pixverse on Discord
For more tech-savy users, Pixverse’s Discord server is another option to generate videos from text prompts. For users who are familiar with Discord, Pixverse provides more fine-tuning options and you can chat with the devs/moderators to get help with your creations or to get the latest developments.
Benefits of Pixverse’s Discord Server vs the Web App
- Detailed FAQ
- Community Aspect
- Discussion Groups
- More transparency on prompts you can tinker with
By default, all videos generated by Pixverse are public, but with Discord, you have the ability to create private videos using the Direct Message functionality of Discord.
How does Pixverse Perform?
In our tests, we were impressed with how easy it was to create videos using text prompts with Pixverse. Using just 1 sentence with 6 words, we were able to generate the video below:
In Discord, users are generating very complex videos by using prompts with >50 words, so make sure to check their server as well.
One thing we found lacking is the quality of videos generated using images. When we upload an image, we were not able to get satisfactory results. It seems that Pixverse is more successful in generating videos from text, rather than transform an image with a prompt.
E.g. after several attempts, we were not able to make Ellie (you know, from the game) smile :/
Prompt: Her frown turns into a smile after successfully completing a task.
Is Pixverse Free?
As of early 2024, Pixverse is free to use but the Team is working on a subscription module that should give more flexiblity to power users soon. To get early access to the Premium subscription plan, users can send a direct message to the Discord Server admins though. Subscribers will also have the ability to remove the Pixverse watermark in the generated videos.
Our Verdict
Pixverse is on a good path. Video creation is very easy and text-to-video results are impressive. While image-to-video results are not at that level yet, the active Discord presence and constant updates from the Dev team means that they should be releasing updates and improvements periodically.
